Meet the Faces behind the Chamber.
We’re keeping the introductions going in our Meet the Chamber series. Help us welcome one of the newest additions to our Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce Board – Makayla Bequette! As part of our Meet the Chamber series, we’re excited to introduce Makayla and highlight the fresh perspective and enthusiasm she brings to the team in 2025. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to all she’ll contribute in the year ahead!
Read more about Makayla below:

Makayla is the co-owner of Muddy Banks Brewing, where she also serves as the taproom manager and head of marketing. With a deep passion for community connection, Makayla thrives on the daily interactions with patrons and takes pride in creating a welcoming, family-friendly environment where people can gather to enjoy great food, craft beer, and meaningful conversation.
Beyond offering a vibrant social space, Makayla is committed to using Muddy Banks Brewing as a platform for community enrichment. She regularly partners with local organizations to host fundraising events, support local causes, and provide a space where neighbors can come together for a greater purpose.
After spending seven years in Coastal North Carolina due to her husband's military service, Makayla always knew she would return to her hometown of Sullivan. Driven by a desire to make a lasting impact both personally and professionally, she came home with a vision to contribute to the growth and success of the community she loves.
Makayla hopes to use her involvement with the Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce to champion small businesses and foster collaboration within the local business community. Her dedication to service and economic development reflects her belief in Sullivan’s potential and the power of working together to build a thriving town.
When she’s not at the brewery or serving through the Chamber, Makayla enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their soon-to-be four children. Whether she’s working in the taproom, volunteering thro
ugh the chamber or with her family, Makayla is guided by a strong sense of purpose, connection, and community pride.
